About The Art Hub
Grand Opening: February 1, 2027
The Art Hub is a soon-to-open, dynamic, artist-run space located inside downtown Victoria’s iconic Capitol 6 Building at 1205 Blanshard St. on the corner of View St.
The space will be designed so the art can breathe, artists can evolve, and the public can join in to become a part of it. With four unique micro-galleries under one roof, the hub will be an energetic ecosystem which will foster experimentation, public interaction, and creative growth.
Four Micro-Galleries. One Creative Playground.
Explore our distinctly curated spaces, each designed to surprise, amuse, provoke, and move you:
Gallery OLO: Our solo exhibition space. Come see a brand-new showcase by a different local artist every three weeks, featuring fresh work across a broad range of styles and mediums. This is the spot to meet your favourite local creators at our all-welcome opening receptions and intimate artist talks.
Gallery Shmallery: Expect the unexpected. Walk through 18 unique mini-galleries entirely curated and set up by the artists themselves. It’s an unpredictable, delightful mix of everything from beautifully finished, ready-to-hang pieces to wild, experimental works in progress.
The Hands-On Gallery: A temporal space where the boundary between artist and audience disappears and the art evolves over time. Every month, a featured local artist will design an interactive project centred around an issue or topic close to their heart—and you get to help build it. Drop by, add your personal touch, and return later to see how the masterpiece has evolved.
The Fibre Arts Gallery: Sponsored by The Beehive Fibre Arts Centre, this spacious gallery celebrates the incredible versatility of thread, yarn, and fabric. Our monthly rotating exhibits showcase the cutting edge of textile art, from wearable fashion and traditional weaving to modern tufting, intricate embroidery, and immersive installations.
Born from a Need to Connect
The Art Hub was founded by local Victoria eco-artist Tanya Bub. Known around Vancouver Island for transforming beach driftwood and recycled materials into lifelike, whimsical sculptures, Tanya experienced firsthand how challenging it can be for local artists to find a flexible, accessible space to grow, experiment, and truly connect with the community.
She didn't just want a place to hang art; she wanted a home where artists could fuel each other's creativity and share the joy of the artistic process directly with the public. So, she decided to build it right in the heart of the city.
Part of the Downtown Vibe
Situated near the corner of Blanshard and Yates, The Art Hub is perfectly positioned among downtown Victoria's vibrant puzzle of local performance venues, fantastic hotels, diverse retail stores and incredible restaurants. Stay tuned for coordinated events with neighbouring local businesses to turn your visit downtown or simple night out into an cultural experience.
